General Data
All MAIRA Insulators and related equipment are designed to meet the most stringent requirements of applicable standards in the industry and manufactured using top quality materials and parts. Our long term partnerships with major raw materials and chemical producers, located in UK and Germany, give us access to the latest technological developments in the industry.
Our equipment meet requirements and criteria of following standards:
- European Standards - SRCEI 61109/96, SRCEI 815/94, SRCEI 383- 1/96, SRCEI 383-2/ 96, SRCEI 273/94, SRCEI 168/97, SRCEI 507/96, SRCEI 71- 1/C1/97
- ANSI – C29,11-1989(1996); C29 12-1997(2002); C29-13(2000); C29,17-2002; C29,18-2003.
MAIRA insulators are produced on state-of-the-art machinery and equipment, using leading edge technology and distinguish themselves in the marketplace through:
- extended life time - non ageing, designed to fully perform in the long run under the hardest weather conditions – extreme sunlight exposure and high humidity; material combination and design eliminating any risk for fungus development;
- a shape design that eliminates Corona effect risk under normal electrical discharge conditions;
- hydroprobicity – material ability that hinders water accumulation even in dusty or highly polluted environments;
- non-corrosive parts;
- maximized leaking distance – resistant to pollution level IV, without compromising other important characteristics of the product;
- high track resistance;
- environmental friendly – non polluting and noise free throughout the entire lifetime;
- low weight – simplified, cost efficient installation procedure and lower transportation costs;
- vandal and shock resistant – functional even if partly damaged;
- low maintenance costs;
- easy to be installed in different positions and angles;
- compatibility with the ceramic and glass insulators. Similar in size, they can replace existing or damaged insulators, without any alteration of the rest of the line;
- no special field requirements for installation and use.
Basic common characteristics of Insulators:
- steel end fittings – small size, silicone covered, to ensure core protection against water and acid damage, higher insulation and reduced radio disturbance;
- fiber glass core – excellent mechanical performance, low weight, high acid resistance;
- primer - chosen to ensure a perfect adhering of silicone rubber onto the fiber glass core;
- gradual regressive silicone insulation – to assure protection in the electrical field zone;
- alternated weather sheds – enabling good rain washing and enhanced track resistance in high humidity environment;
- weather sheds –aerodynamic positioning (10/2°), to enhance track resistance in mild humidity or in high pollution conditions. Alternating sheds with different diameters and flat design makes the insulator self washable and track resistant;
- hydrophobic material – rejects water and eliminates risk of water drop accumulation on the surface, extending the product life time;
